ABOUT THE CONFERENCE:

The Department of Forestry, Nagaland University is delighted to welcome you to the International Conference on Medicinal Plants, Biodiversity Conservation, and Natural Products for Health Care Needs in Traditional System of AYUSH Medicine (MBNHA-2025) at Lumami (Hqrs), Nagaland on 7th – 8th May 2025. This event will bring leading scientists, researchers, academicians, industry professionals, speakers, and experts to one platform. The informative discussions will highlight solutions, achievements, trending issues, and future strategies.
Medicinal plants are vital for healthcare, serving as the foundation for many traditional remedies in the system of AYUSH and modern medicines. Biodiversity conservation ensures the protection of these plants, along with countless other species, maintaining ecological balance. Ethnoforestry combines local knowledge with sustainable forestry practices, preserving natural resources and ecosystems. Together, they provide natural products crucial for addressing healthcare needs while promoting environmental and cultural sustainability.

About the Nagaland University

Nagaland University, is the 13th Central University and the only central university in Nagaland was established based on the act of parliament of India and received assent of the President of India on 20th October 1989 as THE NAGALAND UNIVERSITY ACT 1989(No.35 of 1989). The headquarters of the University i.e Lumami, as per the act could not immediately accommodate the needful so as to start functioning as headquarters. At present the university has three campuses, viz (i) Headquarters at Lumami in Zunheboto district (ii) Kohima campus at Meriema in Kohima district (iii) Medziphema campus (School of Agricultural Sciences) at Medziphema in Dimapur district. The erstwhile temporary campus at Dimapur (School of Engineering and Technology) has been shifted to Kohima in 2024. There are 44 departments offering Undergraduate and Postgraduate and Ph.D programmes in different disciplines of Arts, Commerce, Sciences, Agricultural sciences, Engineering and technology, and Management streams. There are 69 colleges from all over the state of Nagaland, currently affiliated to Nagaland University.

About the Department of Forestry

The Department of Forestry was established in 2016 and is presently in its infantile stage. The Department’s vision is to provide quality education in Forestry and subsequently create trained manpower for addressing issues related to ethnoforestry, biodiversity, conservation management and Forest produce based value-added products of the state’s forest resources, further extension of green cover and judicious, utilization of forest resources and biodiversity for all encompassing benefits to the society’s wellbeing and also sustains their bioeconomy. The Department offers both M.Sc. (intake capacity 17) and Ph.D  programmes. The Department  continuously updates its PG and PhD  syllabi to align with contemporary  academic developments. Research is a  key focus, scholars were  currently pursuing their doctoral research, supported by  various fellowships such as DST-INSPIRE, CSIR and NFST, along with the UGC Non-NET Fellowship. The department houses well equipped Research Laboratories and Faculty members , students regularly publish research  in reputed journals, with some works also being patented. The Department organizes national seminars, workshops, career counseling sessions, and study  tours to provide holistic academic exposure. The Department also aims to impart the best technical knowledge at the post graduate level in order to enable students to face the intellectually demanding and scientifically rigorous needs of the global Forestry sector.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION

Abstract Guidelines

  1. Title
        • The title should be concise, informative, and not exceed 20 words.
        • Use title case (capitalize the first letter of major words).
        • Avoid abbreviations unless they are widely known.
  1. Author(s) and Affiliation(s)
        • List all authors in the order of contribution.
        • Provide full institutional affiliations, including department, institution, city, and country.
        • Indicate the corresponding author with an asterisk (*) and provide their email address.
  1. Abstract Text
        • The abstract should be 250–300 words (unless otherwise specified).
        • Do not include references, figures, or tables in the abstract.
  1. Keywords
        • Provide 4–6 relevant keywords separated by commas.
  1. Formatting
        • Use Times New Roman, 12 pt font, single-spaced, justified alignment.
        • Maintain 1-inch margins on all sides.
        • Submit the abstract as a Word document (.doc/.docx) or PDF.

Submission Guidelines

Language

English is used as the official language for these conferences and publications. Consequently, the document must be written in English, which means it must be clear and error-free.

Our Review Process

The Program Chair will evaluate each of the papers that were successfully submitted and start the peer review process. At least two qualified technical committee members (Reviewers) with extensive subject-matter expertise will thereafter be chosen by the program chair. Following a comprehensive evaluation, the program chair staff will get the comments and decide whether or not to submit the paper.

Finally, the conference secretary will communicate the decision to the involved authors. Papers that pass the second review will be approved, while those that are rejected will be returned for correction.

Academic Ethics

Papers, abstracts, and other submissions must be unique, unpublished works that aren’t being considered for publication anywhere else. Academicians are also asked to contribute innovative, experimental, or theoretical work that adheres to the correct citation guidelines.
Any academic’s cornerstone is adherence to academic ethics. As a result, plagiarism is found the paper will be rejected and not accepted.

Plagiarism can take many forms, some of which include:

  • The essay being rejected or taken out of the final publishing.
  • Notifying the relevant institution or institutions and the author’s supervisor or supervisors of the problem.
  • The right to disclose the identity or names of the authors, the article’s title, the name or names of the associated institution, and the specifics of the plagiarist’s wrongdoing, among other things.”

Travel details

Flight Service

The nearest Airport is Jorhat,Assam .A person can take flight upto Jorhat and then can hire a taxi for the Nagaland University,Lumami OR can avail shared sumo service (from Mariani) upto Mokokchung town and then hire a taxi to Lumami.

Train Service

The nearest Railway station is Marian junction .One can board train upto Mariani Station. Then can hire a taxi or avail shared sumo service upto Mokokchung and then hire a taxi from Mokokchung to reach Lumami. 

Bus Service

Daily Night Bus services are available from ISBT,Guwahati, Assam and Dimapur, Nagaland to Mokokchung .One can take Blue Hills or Network Bus from Guwahati ISBT for overnight journey and reach Mokokchung. Normally the bus reaches early morning thus one can avail service of University Bus (statrts at 8.30 am from Mokokchung) to reach Lumami or can hire a taxi for the same.
